Over the fifty years that GEL has been carrying out ground investigation in the Utilities sector, the health and safety competencies, certification requirements and regulatory compliance have advanced significantly. We are proud of our record of continued compliance and accreditation in this sector and have completed numerous projects for many utility markets including water, gas, electricity, nuclear, renewables, power generation and transmission.
The Company is accredited by audit for the Utilities Sector by UVDB. Our staff are experienced and trained to work in multiple utility markets with the appropriate certifications including EUSR Water Hygiene Qualifications, National Grid Person and BESC standard for both substation and overhead lines. Our engineers are trained to supervise works as 'Competent Person' and have followed National Grid approved HSG47 training. We offer qualified in-house vacuum excavation teams to confirm the location of sensitive underground services.
In the intervening fifty years we have also been at the forefront of research and development of site investigation techniques. Our innovative Pioneer is favoured by our Clients due to its ability to continuously sample soft ground and core obstructions and bedrock. We have extended this technology to our P60 rigs which can access slopes and rough terrain where it is difficult and expensive for other GI methods to reach. Making embankment or dam inspections much quicker and access to remote transmission routes more feasible.
